Exploring the realm of documentary film. I recently viewed a Nick Broomfield piece following 4 young American prisoners, circa 1978. Initially i was apprehensive to watch the film, considering the production date & whether it would have any relevancy to my work.
Alas, i went ahead to find a style of documentary film that felt so fresh & authentic, a style that has somehow been forgotten in the past 30 years.
I was gladly proved wrong from my previous judgement of a potentially biased film, the story involves both points of view from prisoner to prison guard. The editing is raw, which somewhat compliments the story.
Inspired by this piece of low budget documentary i am compelled to create a moving image of the squat and its day to day highs & lows of the members.
Very interesting film about the youth in prison. I wish I knew what the budget for this film was. Does anyone know? The reason why I ask is because I'm a filmmaker and writer, myself.
